About our service
Are you the ATO or a government agency?
No. TaxGov is a private agency operated by Norgenic SL. We are not affiliated with the ATO, the Australian Business Register or any government body. TFNs and ABNs are issued only by the Australian Government.
Can I apply for free without you?
Yes. Applying for a TFN with the ATO and for an ABN with the Australian Business Register is free. Our paid service is optional and is for people who want help preparing and checking their application.
How much does your service cost?
Our service fee ranges from 99 to 199 AUD, depending on the service. You see the exact price before you pay. There are no government fees for a TFN or an ABN.
Can you speed up my application?
No. Processing times are set by the ATO and the ABR. What we do is reduce the risk of delays caused by mistakes in your application.
TFN
What is a TFN and why is it important?
A Tax File Number is your personal reference number in the Australian tax system. It links your income, tax and superannuation to you. Without one, employers and banks must withhold tax at the highest rate.
Can I apply for a TFN if I’m not an Australian citizen?
Yes. Visa holders with work rights can apply online while in Australia. Visitors without work rights generally can’t use the online application.
Which details and documents do I need?
Your full name, date of birth and contact details exactly as on your passport, a visa linked to your passport, and an Australian postal address. For online applications you usually don’t send documents.
How long does it take to receive a TFN?
For visa holders applying online, allow up to 28 days from when the ATO receives your completed application. It’s posted to your Australian address.
What are the most common reasons for delays?
Names or dates that don’t match the passport, expired passports, incomplete addresses, applying twice and visas without work rights.
Can I have more than one TFN?
No. You keep one TFN for life. If you had one before, you need to find it, not apply again.
ABN
Do I need an ABN or a TFN?
Employees need a TFN. If you work as a contractor, freelancer or sole trader, you usually need both.
How long does ABN registration take?
Many applications get an outcome immediately; reviewed applications can take up to 20 business days.

Privacy, payments and refunds
Is my personal data safe?
We use your data only to prepare and submit your application, over encrypted connections, with access limited to the staff working on your case. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
Can I get a refund?
If we haven’t started working on your application, you get a full refund. See the Refunds Policy for every case.
How do I cancel or ask for an invoice?
Email Show email with your reference number.
